Commission for Media Complaints and Violations resumed its activities after a year delay.

Tawana News Agency: According to Bakhtar State News Agency, today (Tuesday, 23 August), the first meeting of the Media Complaints and Violations Commission was held after a gap of one year.

This meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mullah Khairullah Khairkhah, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, members of this commission, a number of representatives of media organizations and also relevant government officials.

In this meeting, it was emphasized that all media complaints and violations should be followed up through the said commission.

This is despite the fact that the Media Violation Commission had ceased to operate after the fall of the republican system in Afghanistan and the coming to power of Islamic Emirate.

The Media Complaints and Violations Commission has officially started its work today with the efforts of the Federation of Journalists and Media Organizations of Afghanistan and the Ministry of Information and Culture, and it is hoped that after this the challenges of the media and journalists will be reduced.

However, one of the most important challenges facing the media and journalists in this one year was the lack of media laws in the country, with the formation of TheCommission, which has started to operate again with the efforts of media supporting institutions, it has given hope among the country’s media community.

This is despite the fact that in the past year, arbitrary arrests, unprofessional behavior, lack of access to information and economic problems have been among the most important challenges facing the media in the country
